DART General Manager to step down, heading to Florida agency

Dear Readers:

The Bus Blog regrets to report that General Manager Brad Miller is leaving DART. He has accepted an offer to become the next Chief Executive Officer of the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority in St. Petersburg, Florida.

Miller’s tenure at DART will end in June, nearly five years to the day of when he started in July 2006, just as the Des Moines Area Regional Transit Authority was created out of the former Metropolitan Transit Authority. DART has made many improvements under his leadership, including the addition of Sunday service and the launch of the Downtown D-Line Shuttle. He said he is confident that the leadership team he established at DART will carry the momentum forward, to complete the transit hub, finish the DART Forward 2035 planning study, and implement new technology such as an online trip planner and real-time schedule information.

“I am incredibly proud of everything the team at DART has accomplished over the past five years,” Miller said. “I feel confident that I will be leaving DART in capable hands.”

Chief Development Officer Elizabeth Presutti is expected to be been named the Interim General Manager by the DART Commission next week. A nationwide search will be conducted for a permanent replacement.
